Telecommunications industry veteran and HPL Board of Advisor member Brent Houlahan joins HPL's team of contributing authors.

Ashburn, Va., August 3rd, 2006 -- The Human Productivity Lab (HPL), an independent research firm and consultancy, announced today new coverage of the telepresence industry from Brent Houlahan. Brent brings to the Lab more than 15 years of experience providing network infrastructure, collaboration and comprehensive security solutions to both private and public sector clients. Most recently Brent was the CTO and VP of Operations for NetSec, a managed security services provider (MSSP) that was acquired by MCI for $105M in February of '05. Brent previously served as CTO and co-founder of Powwow Networks with HPL founder Howard S. Lichtman.

Brent's coverage, a vital new part of HPL's growing library of news, research, and analysis of the emerging telepresence industry, will focus primarily on integration issues, technology, systems management, reporting and metrics, and all things related to securing telepresence.

About Brent Houlahan:

Brent Houlahan was most recently the Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Operations for NetSec, which provides managed security services to some of the most recognizable names in the Fortune 500. NetSec was acquired by MCI in January of 2005, and he became MCI's vice president of Managed Security Services. Prior to joining NetSec, Brent provided consulting services as a defense contractor to both the NSA and the NRO in the US, Japan and the UK, and is an Electronic Warfare graduate of the US Army Military Intelligence Academy. Brent's experience includes working at several venture-backed startups and for companies such as UUNET. As the founding member and Manager of UUNET's Global Security Product Engineering team, Brent's VPN team's product was recognized in 1998 by DataCom Magazine as its "product of the year."

With over 110,000 hits per month from over 65 different countries, the Lab's website at http://www.humanproductivitylab.com ranks as the number one site for news, research and analysis on the emerging telepresence industry. The site continues to grow at a rate of over 15-20 percent per month.

In 2007, the Lab will co-sponsor Telepresence World 2007, a landmark series of CXO-level conferences dedicated to the global telepresence revolution. Visit The Telepresence World 2007 Website for more information.

Though unequivocally pro-technology, the Lab tempers its enthusiasm with a firm understanding of technology's limits with respect to the all-too often neglected "Human Factors" of implementation.

While Productivity is our middle name we always put the Human First.
