HSL @ the VON Conference in Boston Today and Tomorrow & My Brief Stop in New York City for a Sneak Peak at the Upcoming Teliris High-Definition VirtuaLive System
I am attending the Fall VON (Voice, Video, and Vision) Conference in Boston today and tomorrow. Please drop me an e-mail if anyone has any recommendations on anything especially cool I should see or anyone especially interesting I should meet while I am at the conference.
My journey to Boston started yesterday at 3:30 AM which is the time you need to get up to catch the 5:25 AM Amtrak train to New York City from my home in Northern Virginia. I stopped in New York City for an hour and 1/2 to meet with Teliris CEO Marc Trachtenberg and Jim Oldham who runs the Teliris sales organization.

Rendering of the Upcoming Teliris VirtuaLive System Modular System - Available Soon in Standard and High Definition
Marc and Jim were good enough to give me a sneak peak at the upcoming high definition version of the Teliris VirtuaLive telepresence system that is up and running in their new offices on Lexington Avenue. We did a 60 frame-per-second true high definition call with London delivered to the new Teliris display system that minimizes the outline of the screen for a more seamless immersive experience vs. traditional flat screen displays. The high definition video was smooth as glass across the pond with superb color. The official announcement is due out within the month so check back soon for the complete scoop once all the official details are released.
Teliris was also covered in an article in the London Telegraph, Bye Bye Jet Lag, Hello Screen Fatigue where Teliris Chairman Martyn Lewis mentions three new customers moving forward with Teliris. This follows recent announcements of strong sales growth from both Destiny Conferencing and Telanetix which confirms the Lab's predictions that Telepresence is going to the moon with the true potential for exponential growth.
We also spent some time talking about the Lab's upcoming conference series TelePresence World 2007 and Marc was especially excited about taking the conference to London and Weisbaden, Germany so expect us to stick a stake in the ground on those conferences once we nail down the appropriate venues and dates.
